Week 5: Bits and Bytes

The app may benefit from having sounds available. Advertisers could enable ads accessed to be heard which would require sound. Also step by step verbal instructions could be available for users as well. More goes into sound than one might expect. Bits and bytes are main components of sound and effect how sound is heard.

Lossy Compression plays into creating sound and it states that our ears can only detect certain frequency’s and certain patterns so it discards what we cannot hear. Size also matter. Sound clips will not be long, requiring minimal space just Kilobytes or at most Megabytes. Bits also play into visuals and 16-bit depth would be used to have the clearest image.

To have the most success, the app will need to play to all levels of the field. Visuals need to be crisp and clear to appeal to users. Sound is also another appealing aspect of the app. Sound can be incorporated not only for profit by advertisers but it could also have spoken instructions for users. It is important to understand the basics of how sound works to have it work effectively and efficiently on the application.
